The HVBF presents a Community Rezoning Forum

History of the 28 Acre Parcel of Land: 

Taylor Technologies owns a 28 acre parcel of land located in the Sparks Corporate Center.  This property was acquired to provide space for Taylor's anticipated business expansion. In 2008, Taylor began construction of their new site. In 2009, Taylor halted construction due to the economy, and decided not to continue beyond their completed site work. Their plans for future expansion were redefined and they decided to list the site for sale thru CBRE.  It has been offered for sale since 2010 with no success.

 

Reason for the Rezoning Petition:

Taylor is requesting to have this property rezoned from its current ML classification to a DR 10.5.  They believe that changing from manufacturing to residential will allow them to successfully sell this property. It’s been listed and marketed as ML property for over 5 years. They currently have developers interested in this parcel for residential use if the zoning can be approved.  Selling this property is essential to the ongoing success of their business.  As long as their unused asset, and its corresponding debt, remain on their books they are hampered in moving forward in their alternative plans for continued expansion. They currently have 4 satellite operations around their main facility. Selling this parcel of raw land will allow them to consolidate those sites and continue to expand employment in our community.

Taylor Technologies has asked the Hunt Valley Business Forum to take a position on this rezoning petition.   The HVBF Board of Directors is hosting this informational forum for its members and the community to openly discuss the pros and cons of rezoning this parcel of land.
